The Earth is said to be around 4.5 billion [4500000000] years old. Enough number of 0s in it that I might not even be accurate there. And at max, you and I will live up till a 150?! [And that's a lottt of time for us to do a lottt of things we want to do.] Hence, the good news in that way is that we'll die young no matter what!😂

Then again some die young and some die old; not in age but in spirit. One of my English literature teachers once said, "Death is a human's most loyal companion. You know it will come to you at the end, no matter what." I'll never forget this because it was too realistic and petrifying a quote for a school going kid but his intention was good. In that context, he later added that don't be afraid of the end and rather be afraid of not doing things you've always wanted to when you are living.

Why do we need to keep reminding this to ourselves?

Because most of us forget this time and again.

Always wanted to join a dance workshop but you think it's too late now?

You still can.

Did nothing for 12 years after graduation and now you want to start a career afresh?

You're young enough to start over.

Got loaded with too many responsibilities and you don't have time to go all in for the things in your leisure bucket list now?

This too shall pass and even after that, you'll still be young to get that all. Patience is power in such cases.

Keeping the youth in us alive

I have met some crazy youngsters in my life who are quantitatively quite elder to me but qualitatively maybe even younger to me. I look up to these people because I want to live life like them. And these are a few things which I think help them live that way (purely based on observation) -

  1. Small steps towards a healthier lifestyle

This should be the most obvious one because we don't want to create an illusion that our bodies don't change with age. Even a quick 30-minute routine everyday will help one feel better and younger. 🎾[I want to try and get there soon too]

2. Smiling and helping spread some :)

"With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come" - Shakespeare

These "old" wrinkles will help keep our spirits young🫶

3. Being a little nonchalant sometimes is okay

With age, the responsibilities will naturally increase. And sometimes you really need to stop adulting and unapologetically give yourself some relief. In other words, try to find time at least once a week to just chilllll 🥤

4. Keeping in touch with your hobbies

The world will keep running with or without you and me. So the things you really want to do or have always wanted to do, you try to give yourself that. If it's not possible now due to any type of constraints, try to not let that fire in you completely go off. So when the constraints clear up your mind automatically knows what next you can do to make yourself feel better. 🎸

I'm 22 currently and some of my friends and I had already started getting a quarter life crisis a few months back which sounds funny to me right now. And having said that, tomorrow morning it might hit me again😂 Or maybe I'll just read this blog to remind myself that 22 or 82, young in spirit always ❤️

<3,

Rashmi
